Responsible Tourism

At H2O the activities we love directly depend on the well being of the natural environment and local communities at the destinations we visit. The fact that we travel to these destinations to enjoy their natural qualities provides all concerned with very real incentives to protect them. Equally these holidays can assist local communities in a number of ways not least financially. It is our belief that if operated in a responsible manner holidays like ours can have a net positive impact both environmentally and socially. As a responsible tour operator we believe it is our role to do what we can to identify where negative impacts arise and then to take steps to minimise or eliminate them.

Most of the holidays offered by H2O are inclusive of flights from your home to your cosen destination. The environmental impacts relating to air travel are well, though not always accurately, covered elsewhere. This is perhaps the element of our holidays that has greatest environmental impact. On your arrival we provide services and activities often through our local agents and operators. H2O takes advise and actively works with these partners to minimise or, where possible, eradicate negative impacts resulting from them. In the most extreme circumstances where we believe these impacts to be too great we will not offer the holiday or radically redesign it.   

By individually taking a responsible approach towards the places and people we visit we can help to minimise our negative 'footprint' upon them. Within the documentation you receive from H2O we highlight some measures that can be taken. They are not intended to be comprehensive, most are quite simple and you will probably be aware of, and practice, them already.

Finally H2O's office functions have a, relatively, small impact locally. We endeavour to minimise our use of paper and ask all our guests, where practical, to accept documentation in electronic rather than paper form. There are greenhouse gas emissions resulting from our use of computers and our business travel. These are calculated and offset annually.
